Hallicrafters R-42 Speaker

R-42 Speaker
The Hallicrafters R-42 and the R-45 (the rack mounting version of the R-42) speakers were manufactured beginning in 1947 to match the new Hallicrafters SX-42.  It was touted to be one of the greatest innovations in speaker design.  This was the first speaker of its size to offer the bass reflex principle.  The cabinet size is 12 1/2 inches deep, 11 3/4 inches high and 17 inches wide. The speaker size is 8 inches.  A two position switch on the front panel offers communications or high fidelity reception.  The terminals on the rear are for 500/600 ohm line.  The R-42 speaker was manufactured from 1947 to 1948 and sold for $25.00.  The R-45 speaker sold for $27.50.  The R-42 is my favorite speaker...I have four of them!
